Motor Cruising - Sample of Joining information for all courses

1. Joining time 9:00 Monday ……………………..On arrival at Troon Yacht Haven, please ask for directions to the boat, in the marina office or call Steve on the mobile number. If you are delayed please let us know by calling 07980 003098.
Address if using satelite navigation – Troon Yacht Haven, Harbour Road, Troon. KA10 6DJ.

2. If you have asked for an airport or rail pickup, remember to advise us of your arrival and departure times.

3. For those arriving by car the marina has a free car park with 24hr CCTV and manned coverage.

4. Please bring warm clothing suitable for layering to accommodate all weather conditions. Shoes and waterproof boots or wellingtons should have non slip soles and be non marking. Please use a collapsible bag as there is no room for rigid suitcases.

5. Waterproof clothing if required is included in your course fees and will be issued on board.

6. If you are remaining on board overnight please remember your sleeping bag, pillow case, and personal towel. Remember suncream, sunglasses, and hat.

7. Bring your logbook with you. If you don’t have one we have a supply on board, cost £5.00.each.

8. Personal safety is all important, and you must take responsibility for your own safety as seriously as we do for you. The environment you are now entering is completely different to the one you know ashore; many find it completely alien. Safe thinking and practices are a must in order to get the maximum enjoyment out of your time afloat. Please remember "ON IT, NOT IN IT!"

9. The school is insured for instruction. Second Wind Motor Cruising accepts no liability for personal injury, accident or loss and would recommend that Students obtain personal insurance for sickness, illness, accidents aboard and loss of personal possessions, if the Student considers prudent for their personal life style or well being.

10. We are able to cater very well for average tastes within the practicalities of life aboard a motor cruiser. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know well before your arrival; preferably at the time of booking. If this is not done you will need to make your own shopping arrangements.

11. Accommodation, breakfasts and lunches are included in the course fee. Evening meals are NOT included within the course fee and are taken ashore.

12. Mooring fees are not included when away from Troon Yacht Haven.

13. On your return. It is essential that the boat is kept clean and tidy and well maintained, or life becomes chaotic and uncomfortable afloat. Running repairs, and basic engine maintenance are part and parcel of boating and as such will be touched upon during your course. The last part of the final day will be spent clearing the boat of rubbish, and giving her a thorough cleaning inside and out, ready for the hand back to our shore staff. Please report any deficiencies/breakages immediately on your return.

Sample: SAILING - 5 day Course joining information.

4. Please bring a variety of warm clothing suitable for layering, to accommodate all weather conditions. Shoes and waterproof boots or wellingtons should have pale coloured non slip soles and be non marking. Please use a collapsible bag as there is no room for rigid suitcases.

5. Lifejackets are provided. Waterproof clothing, if required, is included in your course fees and will be issued on board. A limited number of pairs of sea boots are available for hire at £5.00 per week. Please advise us if these are required.

6. Remember your sleeping bag, pillow case, and personal towel. Remember sunspecs, High factor sun cream [we recommend SPF 25 or above] and hat. Even in Spring and Autumn these items may be useful.

7. Bring your logbook with you. If you don’t have one we have a supply on board, cost £5.00.each.

8. This sailing course is inclusive of meals. Wine is available on board to compliment your evening meal. If you wish to bring your own favourite tipple for after the days sailing please feel free to stick it in your bag.

9. On the evening of joining crew usually go to a local pub for dinner. This is NOT included in the course fee. Allow £15 approximately for a meal.

10. Personal safety is all important, and you must take responsibility for your own safety as seriously as we do for you. The environment you are now entering is completely different to the one you know ashore; many find it completely alien. Second Wind Sailing accepts no liability for other personal injury, accident or loss and would recommend that students obtain personal insurance for sickness, illness, accidents and loss of personal possessions, if the student considers it prudent for their personal life style or well being.

12. We are able to cater very well for average tastes within the practicalities of life aboard a yacht. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know well before your arrival; preferably at the time of booking. If this is not done you will need to make your own shopping arrangements.

4. On the evening of joining, please arrive at 8pm after having eaten.

5. Please bring a variety of clothing suitable for layering to accommodate all weather conditions. Shoes and waterproof boots or wellingtons should have pale coloured non slip soles and be non marking. Please use a collapsible bag as there is no room for rigid suitcases.

6. Waterproof clothing, if required, is included in your course fees and will be issued on board. Sailing boots are available for hire at cost of £5.00, subject to availability.

7. Remember your sleeping bag, pillow case, and personal towel. Remember sunspecs, hat and sunscreen. We recommend SPF 25 or above. Even in autumn these items are useful.
