Principal Steve, who is a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor & Examiner in both sail and motor cruising, has been involved with boating since childhood.
In the eighties and early nineties he had his own canal boat which developed his love and expertise in boat handling. After this he sailed dinghies before moving on to bigger boats.
Steve has been sailing professionally since 1998 and has delivered courses on the South Coast of England, in North Wales and the West Coast of Scotland. He has also spent a season in the Mediterranean as skipper on high quality charter yachts under both sail and power. He has also completed a transatlantic crossing.
Steve is never happier than when teaching and sharing his wealth of experience and love of sailing.
Kath
Steves daughter Kath has been involved with boats since early childhood but seriously started sailing dinghies at the age of 13 with the Sea Cadets and progressed rapidly to sailing yachts over the next few years gaining thousands of miles and experience in yachts up to 69 feet long.
After completing a degree in Marine Biology, Kath returned to small boats and became a Dinghy, Windsurf and Kayak Instructor working both in the UK and Greece as a watersports instructor.
Kath has been out to the Med to work aboard a Moody 64 as Cook/First Mate. This was a hugely valuable experience for Kath, who on her return began to concentrate on getting her Yachtmaster certificate which she gained in May 2005. This was followed by another trip out to Palma to work aboard an 85ft Sailing Yacht as temporary stewardess during the sale of the yacht.
With Kaths experience in superyachts and the hospitality industry, she is the perfect skipper for our corporate clients who want the very best.
Kath began working with Second Wind Sailing as Cruising Instructor in March 2007 and is now a Yachtmaster Instructor [sail].
She now works part time teaching sailing, is a member of Troon Lifeboat crew, and is in the second year of a degree course in Nursing.
