Coastal Skipper
The aim of this course is to give you the skills and confidence to skipper a yacht safely on longer offshore passages. We will help you to brush up on some of the Day Skipper syllabus if needed, but this time the emphasis is on planning and then executing longer and more adventurous trips. During the course you can expect to learn the following:
· Passage planning
· Pilotage by night
· Pilotage in restricted visibility
· Skippering techniques
This is the last of the RYA practical courses where a Course Completion Certificate may be awarded at the end of the week.
The next step, after building up a little experience on your own, is to go for the RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper Certificate of Competence examination.
