Each Autumn we run RYA theory courses with limited numbers of students on each course to ensure full understanding and individual tuition.

NEW This year we are pleased to say that from September we will be running the new RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course, a 2 day course which gives students an awareness and knowledge of basic navigation techniques and safety in just 16 hours. The course is suitable for everyone wanting more information about boating, paticularly anyone new to sailing, motor boating, diving or sea angling.

There is no end of course exam to take with this course as it is all based on assessment of student learning throughout the course

visual and electronic navigation,
pilotage,
rules of the road,
anchoring,
weather forecasts,
passage planning.

RYA Day Skipper Theory - 40 hours over 6 days or 3 weekends

This is a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation and seamanship for Competent Crew.
This course is invaluable for learning how to start to make decisions at sea.
