Subject:10th trip...

I have just completed my tenth weekend on the Chewsy (over three seasons). The weather has got increasingly "interesting" with each succeeding year, so I'm somewhat in trepidation about next season! Or, I would be if it were not for the consummate skippering, every time, every day, whether it be Steve or Kath. Their evident knowledge and skills, clear explanations and untiring patience in the teeth of certain clients (i.e., moi) is awesome. And, it's rare to experience such consistent excellence from any business. Of course, less visible, in this case, it's fundamentally complemented by the adminsistrative efficiency, consideration and delicious catering standards achieved time after time by Chris.
Yes, I've done ten...and now, I'm looking forward to the 11th etc....Chewsy: you have been warned!

Great week with an excellent instructor kath, who managed to get the best out of some very different students-from the very nervous to very confident-with humour and a great deal of patience.
Don't be put of when you see her photo-looks so young for someone who is so very capable and mature.
Each evening we enjoyed a tasty meal which was mostly prepared by kath while the students chewed over the days events.
Once again kath thanks for a great experience.

Subject:Day Skipper Theory and Practical

I have just completed my theory and practical with Second Wind. I have enjoyed the whole experience, but in particular the practical sailing round the western Isles in Crystal Rapide. We saw spectacular sights and the weather was also kind, however, it was the patience and technical ability of Steve that made for a wonderful experience. I learnt so much in a short space of time. I would recommend Second wind to anyone who wants to learn in the most pleasant of environments and to receive tuition delivered in the most professional way. i would also like to thank Kathryn for her most helpful tuition through the theory programme, I benefited greatly from the patient approach and your clear instruction and knowledge.

What a great week.
Departed Troon on the Monday the 24th of May and just had such a wonderful time. The 4 of us booked the boat out with Steve coming along to show us the most memorable trip. My wife and I doing CS the other Steve doing DS and the fast learning Bev doing CC. Cannot recommend Steve and the good ship Chewsy highly enough. Came all the way from Australia so it says it all. The most memorable day we had was the sail from Millport to Tabert via the Kyles of Bute. Few beers in the Pubs that night. Well okay more than a few!!! Then the next day the most wonderful seafood from the local fish shop. Steve was throughout the week calm, professional and gave us thorough training in all aspects of yacht handling and navigation. Which my wife and I needed after a long stint away from sailing.
Will be back to do our YM or CS prep as we know Steve's thorough approach will be what we need.
Thanks again Steve.

Cheers Dave

Fun, Informative and very hands on!
This is our second visit sailing on "Chewsy", for mileage building hours. Steve has put as much energy and effort into our requirements
i.e. anchoring, berthing and sail trim with
confidence.
Steve's enthusiasm gives you a "buzz" about
sailing. Would definitely recommend Second Wind

What a great team and a fantastic course! Excellent and thorough tuition from a very patient and knowledgeable Steve who is inspirational with his boundless energy and passion for sailing. All aspects of the course syllabus were covered and I left feeling confident that I am a far better sailor than when I arrived. A first class school to be highly recommended. Thanks!

Just finished CC over 3 weekends in the company of David(along for the pleasure of sailing),Grant(DS Practical), and Kath (Our skipper and all-round extremely capable and qualified instructor). Trips to Arran and Largs varying between F6, F3, and a bit of night motoring. Thanks everyone for a great time (Kath especially for your enthusiasm, general encouragement, and teaching skills).
Would recommend Second Wind for their food [ fish pie] alone, but they happen to know their sailing stuff as well. Thanks again.

We both had a most rewarding and immensely enjoyable time last week, as Mary worked towards her CC and I strived for the DS qualification. The weather conditions were challenging, with glorious sunshine all week, but virtually nil wind. Chewsy’s spanking new Yanmar engine is now well and truly run in!! However, Steve made the most of the isolated light airs, and the Force 3 which sprang up on Friday, to get us through the required elements of the course. His legendary patience and wealth of knowledge contributed to a great learning experience. Many thanks from us both. We’ll be back!!

Had a great time last week on board Chewsy with three other trainees at different stages of their sailing 'careers', and Max as skipper. Very comfortable boat, attentive and sensitive training, and good food! The weather and thoughtful choice of destinations made it a really memorable trip. And I think my sailing improved too!! Thanks to the whole team.

Just a short email to say many thanks for an enjoyable weekend. Your patience and professionalism along with kindness were really evident and I look forward to coming down next year to do the day skipper as a result.

All the best
Kathryn
