About Us

A small family company, Second Wind Sailing is built on the principles of providing friendly and 1st class tuition and charter, delivered by experienced, competent instructors, aboard a very well maintained, comfortable and manageable training boat.

We get asked from time to time about meals on board, and whether people live on beanfeasts, pot noodles and cup-a-soups whilst on a sailing course or charter. I am delighted to say that we offer a variety of delicious menus, which are prepared from fresh ingredients on board, usually by the skipper, but occasionally by our students. At least one evening meal per course is a roast dinner accompanied by a bottle of wine.

Our client group continues to grow, by us offering personal, flexible training packages and charter options, to suit an extensive range of needs. We also listen to you, the client.
We like to think that our students become our friends with many returning just to sail or to increase their knowledge and experience with further courses.

As an RYA recognised training centre our school and boats are subject to a range of regulations which are there to ensure your safety, and also to make sure that the standards of training are high.

At Second Wind Sailing we take pride in offering excellent sailing and tuition together with safety measures which exceed the minimum laid down by the Martime Coastguard Agency, together with patient, talented and experienced instructors who will help everyone to achieve their training potential.

Steve

Principal Steve, who is a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor & Examiner in both sail and motor cruising, has been involved with boating since childhood.
In the eighties and early nineties he had his own canal boat which developed his love and expertise in boat handling. After this he sailed dinghies before moving on to bigger boats.

Steve has been sailing professionally since 1998 and has delivered courses on the South Coast of England, in North Wales and the West Coast of Scotland. He has also spent a season in the Mediterranean as skipper on high quality charter yachts under both sail and power. He has also completed a transatlantic crossing.

Steve is never happier than when teaching and sharing his wealth of experience and love of sailing.
