R.Y.A. Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster offshore prep with MCA Exam

These world wide recognised certificates are for more experienced skippers who require Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA) Certification.

The intensive preparation covers blind navigation, night pilotage, man overboard, advanced boat handling under power and sail plus heavy weather tactics. This course ends with a RYA/MCA exam.

Coastal Skipper practical exam pre-requisites are:-

30 days at sea (2 as skipper)
800 miles 12 night hours
Restricted (VHF only) radio operators certificate
First Aid Certificate 

For candidates with a Coastal Skipper course completion certificate the days at sea and mileage are reduced to 20 and 400 respectively.

Yachtmaster Offshore practical exam pre-requisites are:-

50 days at sea with 5 days as skipper,
2500 miles
5 passages over 60 miles including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper, Restricted (VHF only) radio operators certificate
First Aid Certificate.

Personal passport sized photograph and separate examination fee are required by the RYA for the above exams.
